J4F: Danny not too many people know about the Apparatus Brand and its mission, can you please clarify it for us?

Appa:This is our mission statement:

everyone digs a fresh tee shirt. from the beach, to the tournament, to a bbq or just to

represent-- we recognize what the people want and apparatus is here to deliver.

while designing as a hobby since 2002, apparatus came about in 2006 and naturally fell into its own distinctive style. we come from a simplistic yet bold background. for us, less is more. apparatus is about representing island culture, brazilian jiu-jitsu and reggae as a lifestyle. our mission is simple: create clothing that embodies who we are and what we represent, all the while remembering our roots. always keeping it fresh, simple, and forever humble, the apparatus familia.

J4F: What exactly does Apparatus Brand stand for?

Appa: we stand for positivity we stand for people who are inspired. it’s not so much the brand but the movement behind the brand. the family, the sponsored, the culture, and the mission we represent. that is whats important to me. the name is an identifier, but themovement is more important.

J4F: Apparatus Brand is a hot, popular, up and coming clothing brand. I have seen many people sporting your tees and stickers; I even have a few shirts and stickers. What can you say about that? Did you expect the brand to grow as quick as it has?

Appa: thank you for the belief. to me, the brand has a lot of work to do. to me, it’s still very small but i believe it will get there with a lot of hard work, passion and dedication. this is my passion and a lifestyle i wanted to pursue for a very longtime, but with everything, life comes into play. but i am proud to say that today, i can finally pursue my dream. AppA will be here for a very longtime.

J4F: Danny there is stiff competition out there in regards to clothing brands. Most especially with competing island brands, what makes Apparatus Brand stick out?

Appa: very true. there are so many brands out there that i personally love as well. i guess with AppA, we try to be original with our designs and messages as much as we can, a lot of folks say that there is no originality today, but i disagree, we try to put a little of “us” into every design, into every tee. and i think folks can respect that. i have much respect for all the local brands out there doing they’re thing. they believe in their product and that’s all you need, is belief.

J4F: Who does Apparatus Brand cater to… is it generally for the island peeps or are we talking worldwide?

Appa: we cater to everyone, to me, if a person thinks the design is fresh, he/she will wear it no matter what. but we are definitely inspired by our island life, brazilian-jiu jitsu, and reggae as a lifestyle. thats what we love and represent.

J4F: Does Appa sponsor anyone at this time and how would those looking for

sponsorship get noticed?

Appa: we do sponsor, but we are so small and can’t wait to get to that level where we can pick up those athletes, musicians, and inspiring people who are doing their thing. believe me, we notice a lot of these folks who are a huge inspiration in what they do. we will get there one day.

 J4F: Danny where do you see yourself and Apparatus Brand in the next 10 years?

 Appa: i dont know where we’ll be but i do know we will continue pushing the brand because its a part of who we are and our lifestyle.

 J4F: What’s in store for your Apparatus supporters in the near future?

 Appa: plenty of things. we want to continue making fresh tees. and everything else in between, hats, stickers, quickdries, grappling shorts, rash guards, button downs and polos. hopefully we can get some gi’s made as well. the possibilities are endless. maybe even get into home decor, lol!

 J4F: Right on! Are there any collaboration projects with other companies or brands coming up that we should be looking out for?

 Appa: yes. we want to collab with a few brands out there. all local brands as well. from, guam, to hawaii, and cali. it will happen and it will be fresh! def. keep an eye out!

 J4F: What do you want Apparatus Brand to be best known for?

 Appa: for being original and humble. we want to promote what we love to the fullest and showmthe world what we believe in and be known as a positive brand.

 J4F: Who or what is the inspiration and motivation behind you and the brand?

Appa: the inspiration is from alot of things. from the old school brands on guam to the all the surf brands i used to wear back during school. they were all original and fresh. and I wanted to be a part of that movement. the motivation is trying to keep it all alive. growing up on guam, you had to have that fresh tee shirt to rock and always wanted to be the first to rock it. Lol!

 J4F: What advice do you have for other people with the same hopes of starting their own brand?

 Appa: all i have to say, is if you believe in it, do it. many people have great ideas, bring it to life my friends! show the world what you got! i support everyones dream.

 J4F: It’s been a please chatting with you Danny…. Any final words of wisdom, shout outs, etc?

 Appa: i just want to say a big thanks to my family. i am proud to be from Guam and growing up inspired by many people and things. a huge thanks to my brother Gerard, for helping make things happen, without him, there would be no brand. to my boys who believed in my dream.
