Playstation Network Down

Like many of you out there I am an avid PS3 gamer, Black Ops to be specific. Last week I attempted several times to get online to play but I kept receiving an error message that I couldn’t be signed on. I did what most of you probably did. I rebooted my router; I powered down my PS3 and repeated these steps multiple times. Unsuccessful, I turned to the internet, googling the error code presented to me and looking for possible fixes or remedies. This is when I discovered that the entire Playstation network was down. The initial article I found explained that there was a problem with the network and that the network would be up within a day or so. It is going to be a week now and the network is still down! I continued to search the web for answers and found an official notice from Playstation regarding the outage, this is what it says:

Sony Computer Entertainment is conducting a “thorough investigation” into the outage, Satoshi Fukuoka, a spokesman for Sony Computer Entertainment in Tokyo, told PC World.

Sony Computer Entertainment of America spokesman Patrick Seybold reiterated Fukuoka’s statement, confirming that Sony is still looking into whether credit card or other personal information were taken during the “external intrusion.”

Both declined to provide more information about the intrusion that led the company to take the global Playstation Network down last week. The network remains down as of Monday morning.

In an update this morning, Seybold said there is no update or timeframe for getting the network back up yet.

“As we previously noted, this is a time intensive process and we’re working to get them back online quickly,” he wrote. “We’ll keep you updated with information as it becomes available. We once again thank you for your patience.”

I personally hope that they get the network running soon because I need my fix… I haven’t been able to play Black Ops since last Wednesday. Knowing that the entire network is being restructured or renovated sounds like a serious issue, I wonder how much longer before the network comes back? I’ll continue to research and find information about the outage, so bookmark or subscribe to the website for further information.

Shooot!
