Seattle Officer Punches A Citizen in the Face

I'm sure by now many of you have heard about this incident. If you haven't let me break it down for you!

Officer Ian Walsh observed a group of teen girls jaywalking across a busy street instead of using the specifically designated pedestrian overpass. According to the reports from the Seattle police blotter and politicsdaily.com officer Walsh  called the teen girls jaywalking to his cruiser but they became hostile. When one of the teens began walking away from the cruiser officer Walsh exited his cruiser and attempted to escort the teen back to the vehicle. With all the commotion a large crowd gathered. Officer Walsh attempted to handcuff the female teen when  another female attempted to intervene. The second female placed her hand on the officers arm. Walsh believed the second female was attempting to assist the first female to escape so officer Walsh reacted. Both females were eventually arrested for obstructing an officer and third degree assault. Officer Walsh is a 39 year old officer who joined Seattles police services in 2006. He has currently been placed in a training unit while an investigation and further review of the incident is conducted.

Police officers have a tough job, they must enforce the law and face criticism for not only doing their job but ensuring that they are safe when conducting their duties. Of course there are incident's that have clearly show abuse of authority, some more obvious than most. Remember people, police officers are not psychics, they don't know what your intentions are, they are human too and they want to get home safely just like everyone else. Put yourself in officer Walsh's position and tell me what you would do in that exact situation. You have all the time to think about it, but officer Walsh had a split second to react.

What are you thoughts?
